Peace
After two strenuous days in the historic cities of São João del Rei and Tiradentes was time to get some rest. We stayed two days in succession in Belo Horizonte and I had an easy day program for Richard. The first day we walked along the huge roundabout Praça Raúl Soares, where some roads in the center of Belo Horizonte gather. This square was disrepair and neglect for years, but last year it was completely renovated square. High bushes gave way to small, easy to maintain shrubs, so that the security has increased in the evening. By day, the square where a fountain in the center is located, a collection for many workers, who during the afternoon to try to unwind and relax. When we were in the square, played light music from seemingly invisible speakers. The water gushed from the fountain to the rhythm of the music, a soothing sight.

Mangabeiras
One of my personal favorite places in Belo Horizonte is surely Mangabeiras the park, in the extreme south of the city. From the center runs a Avenida (Avenida Afonso Pena) to the main entrance of the park, a distance of about six kilometers. This distance, with a slight increase, I have twice traveled on foot. Normally I take a city bus that transports us into the park. On this day, I walk the miles of Richard saved. We took the bus to Praça do Papa and then walked to the entrance. It was a warm and mainly sunny day. The park was very quiet. The biggest crowds of day-trippers, especially on weekends. With the rest are also various birds and mammals emerge from their shelters. Including a group of monkeys brush, high in the trees who wander around. There were small monkeys to see, probably boy earlier this year have seen the light.

Museum Square
The second rest day was mainly spent in and around Praça da Liberdade, the Freedom Square. By far the most popular and most popular square of the city. Sportsmen and make it their daily jog laps, amorous couples are entwined on a wooden bench, a single musician playing his flute, without caring if his musical interest would attract. On the square is now an information center, which informs about the plans the city has with the surrounding buildings. Buildings of former ministries of the state are being renovated and transformed into cultural centers. More than ten thousand square feet of museum and cultural space is realized in the coming years. Belo Horizonte will get its own collections. A museum there for some years: the mineral museum Professor Djalma Guimarães, named after a famous local geologist. This museum houses an interesting collection of fossils, gems, minerals and has regularly lectures to a wide audience.

Flight
These two rest days were not scheduled for anything. On Friday we had the travel documents to get a flight the next day. A flight to the bustling northeast of the vast country. To Maceio, capital of the small state of Alagoas. Alagoas state widely known for its idyllic beaches, in and around the capital are to be found. Beaches with names like Gunga, Maragogi, Francês, Ipioca, Paripuera, Pajuçara. Now only the weather to cooperate so we can enjoy plenty of sun, sea and beach. To be continued ...
